You've heard the expression, from the frying pan into the fire. Well I went from the frying pan in Vegas into the furnace, Furnace Creek Campground that is, in Death Valley California. The home of Borax and the Twenty Mule Team fame. The weather was horrific, hot and most uncomfortable, but worth it. Death Valley is quite unique, as are all parks from each other, but at D. V. you really get the opportunity of seeing different colors and mountain configurations in stead of the red rock that is prevalent in Utah and Colorado. I also saw a Roadrunner smacking the hell out of a ground squirrel in order to break its bones so he could be swallowed hole. Interesting to say the least. I didn't hear it go beep beep, by the way.
The temperature was not lower than 105 with a high of about 120 until late evening, when it dropped to the high 80's, which by the way seems cool after the heat of the day.
Enjoy some photos. TC...

Anyway, I am curious to hear more about the roadrunner. How high up was he when he dropped kicked the squirrel?
