Oregon And Crater Lake

From Weed in Northern California to Crater Lake in Oregon. Camping at Diamond Lake as Crater's campground was full.  That seems to be the summer routine.
Crater Lake is an amazing wonder to behold.  The pictures say it all.  Enjoy.  TC..

Fulfilling A Request

My observant friend in Idaho noticed that I only post pictures of my pop up from the outside and was wondering what it looks like inside.  So to satisfy her curiosity I am posting a few pictures of the inside of the camper that I took this morning while at Crater Lake.  The Crater Lake post to immediately follow after this one.  Enjoy Idaho!

A Stay With Friends In Weed, California

The north rim of the Grand Canyon was not only beautiful and exciting, it was also an opportunity for me to meet two wonderful people who I camped next to.
John and Debbie became quick friends, and whose company I thoroughly enjoyed in the two days we spent as neighbors.  Truth be told, I invited myself to their home in Weed California if "I should ever pass by".  Heading north from Whiskeytown kept getting me closer to Weed, and at the 9 mile exit from their home, I made the call, not really knowing what to expect.  John met me at the rest stop and I followed John to their 40 acre farm, ranch and home.  With a beautiful view of Mt. Shasta for a back yard, great 1800's vacant home, beautiful double wide and other buildings on the property, they have it all.  As I told them both, their place is a nice as any I have seen. John got a kick out of me telling him he has camping right in his own back yard, why leave?  We spent 3 days together and their hospitality, honesty and humor will be remembered as a highlight of my trip.  Thanks for a great time and a lot of fun John and Debbie.
Enjoy a few pictures.  TC...

Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, Northen California

As I briefly mentioned in my last entry, I spent a few days at Whiskeytown Lake in Northen California.  The lake and the surrounding area is quite pretty with the usual water sports available.  I celebrated my Father's Day with a fishing trip.  A trip to the dock that is.  I didn't catch anthing but had a fun time anyway.  A 3.4 mile hike to the falls finished my day and my stay at the lake. TC...
This dock proved to be a dry dock for me!

I think my arms are getting longer from all the self portraits..

Passing through San Fran to Northern California

Leaving Sierra National Forest was with mixed emotion.  I would have loved to have more time with my new friends and I also wanted to stay a day or two longer to do some fishing on Bass Lake, but there was a reservation on my space and no others were availabel.  So, I headed out for the Pacific Coast Highway, Route 1 with the hope of new adventure in mind.  The Pacific Ocean on my left and a beautiful day in front of me actually left me somewhat frustrated towards the end of the evening, when I found myself hunting for a camping space.  I fianlly found Samuel Taylor State park for one night at the very expensive price of $33.00.  I am going to have to talk to Arnold about his raising the prices here in California.  Next stop will definately be another National Park.  Actually I am in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area right now and only paying $7.00 a night.  That entry to follow.  Enjoy a few snaps along the way here.  TC...
